Our Small Bee Movement Necklace brings together one of nature’s hardest little workers with one of our favorite pieces of mechanical history.

The detailed bee is crafted from solid brass and given new life with an authentic vintage watch movement nestled into its body. Look closely and you’ll discover tiny gears, markings and jewel bearings—including those wonderful little ruby-colored jewels originally used by watchmakers to reduce friction and help their timepieces run accurately.

The contrast between the warm antique brass bee and the silvery mechanical movement gives this necklace the mixed-metal character we love. It’s whimsical without being too sweet, mechanical without being too industrial, and just quirky enough to be unmistakably Lorraine Frances.

Because we use authentic vintage watch movements, no two necklaces will ever be exactly alike. Gears, markings, jewel placement, color and patina will naturally vary. We hand select each movement for its character, quality and beauty.
